Palak Bajra Khichidi

Ingredients




Ingredients:

  • ½ cup black millet (Bajra)

  • ½ cup yellow moong dal (washed and cleaned)

  • 1 cup chopped spinach (Palak)

  • 2 tsp ghee

  • 1 tsp cumin seed (jeera powder)

  • Pinch of asafoetida (Hing)

  • ¼ tsp turmeric powder (Haldi)

  • Salt to taste


 

STEPS:

  • Soak the bajra in sufficient amount of water for atleast 8 hours.

  • Wash the yellow moong at least 2-3 times with water and then keep it aside.

  • Mix the soaked bajra, yellow moong dal, salt, 2 cup of water in a pressure cooker for 4 whistles.

  • Let the steam escape before opening the pressure cooker.

  • In a deep non-sticky pan heat ghee, hing and turmeric powder and saute for few seconds on medium flame.

  • Add spinach to the mixture and allow it to cook for 2-3 minutes on a medium flame.

  • Add the cooked bajra-yellow mong dal mixture,pinch of salt, mix and cook on a medium flame for 2-3 minutes while continuously stirring.

  • Serve the dish with pickel/ ghee, as per taste.
